Blantant attempt to win a book? Yes. But it looks like a REALLY good book...

I'm posting this link here, partly to enter to win a book by an amazing photographer with a mission I am completely down with - and partly because I think everyone should check it out. I can stand behind her cause any day, and her pictures give me goosebumps.

The new book "The Beauty of Different" is available from Bright Sky Press and Amazon.

Since I'm using my iPad and can't, for the life of me, figure out why it won't let me insert a permalink, here is the ISBN number for your searching pleasure: 978-1-933979-96-0

New house madness

Well, in the time it's been since I last posted, we've started building a house. What was I THINKING?!? No, in all honesty, it's been such a great experience. I wish it wasn't plopped down in the middle of go-live craziness at the hospital (nothing better than working 12-hour days for weeks on end) and a certification trip to Madison (GAWD I hope I passed that test) and of course today Colleen found out she is in survey. Her survey team rolled in at 7am on Father's day. Who does that?
But the house building process has been SO much fun. Watching our dream home arise out of plans and stacks of papers and paint chips is so rewarding. It's my first home but I think I just may build from now on. We go almost every day and oohh and ahh over the changes in just one day. Yesterday I went after a week away for work and all of a sudden the outside is painted, we have wood floors, cabinets and trim is coming in. YES! That trim I threw a hissy fit over (and ended up paying $1k for, thank you very much) is beautiful and well worth it.
Only 10 more days until close and I'm counting them down. One more week of work until my "vacation" to get ready to move...anyone want to come for a moving party? I'll provide the boxes, truck and beer!!

Is it spring yet?

I already have spring fever. I have the urge to fling open all my windows and shake out all the rugs (we have a lot of rugs. cement floors...). It's usually about this time every year that I start spending a lot of time on Expedia, making trips to places with palm trees and then almost booking them. If work wasn't so crazy, we'd be going to Hawaii for spring break.
Anyway, we had a great holiday season. Time flew but it always does, yes? Shopping, lots of good food and more shopping. We got a great holiday dinner with some good friends and we all got lots of fun presents to open.
I'm getting pretty close to my weight goal, only about 10 pounds to go. I can't believe how far I've come since last March!
Maybe my new year's resolution should be to blog more?
