You made me sweat that?!

So, as you can see from the previous posts, Rachel and I got new cars. For my car, we went to a used car lot in Puyallup and I decided I really liked this little Civic. So, I did the credit application and we got through all the formalities and after a few days, I decided to take out my loan at this credit union in Kitsap County. Then, I get a phone call from them and they have a "few" questions to ask me. Normally, I would not have a problem with this, but on this particular occasion, I worked myself up into a healthy panic attack. Here's why. First, on my application, the dealer put that I worked at my job for 2 years. He lied, I've only been there 7 months. Then he said that I lived on Fox Island for 2 years. He lied, I've only been here for 8 months. And to top it all off, you have to have some connection to Kitsap County (live, work, worship) and he said that I go to church there. He lied, I don't. Oh, and the name the dealer signed all of the paperwork with was "Bubba". That's not a lie. So, now you can understand why these "few" questions had me slightly worried all weekend long!

So, I get the phone call today from the credit union and I'm dreading answering any of their questions. A woman calls with this sweet voice that makes you think she should be reading books to preschoolers. Anyways, she says that she wants to verify I am who I say I am, and make sure I'm not connected to anything or anyone suspicious. Huh.

This is how our conversation went:

Her: What country are you a resident of?
Me: Uh... this one.
Her: Ha ha, everyone stumbles over that question!
Me: Huh.
Her: So, you work at ?
Me: Yes.
Her: Ok, great! And you are the Social Services Director?
Me: Yes.
Her: Fantastic! And you're the only person on the loan?
Me: Yes.
Her: Wonderful! And would you like to open a savings account as well?
Me: No, not today, but maybe in the future.
Her: Sounds great! Well, we'll be mailing you off documents... .

I guess I passed the test. But, if you really wanted to know I am who I say I am, shouldn't she have asked my company name and what my title is? Call me crazy, but that's how you verify something! Anyways, now I'm annoyed that I let that weigh me down this weekend. And what did this experience teach me? Lie like hell and you'll get what you want!
